Pope goes on retreat as civil war for soul of the Church scorches the earth.

Here is to hoping it's a silent retreat.

A few things about this article.

The quote in Scripture that describes people whose theological focus is material things as pagans came to mind when I read the excerpt from Amoris wherein Pope Francis defends his ideas by saying "Communion is not a prize for the perfect."

It is completely bankrupt of spiritual substance of what the Eucharist is, its effects upon a soul in a perpetual state of mortal sin.

Instead of acknowledging he is recommending a Medicine his people will have a bad reaction to because of the toxic waste in their soul, he accuses Church teaching of cultish practices that are mortal and sinful in nature.  He makes the Eucharist a spiritually empty gesture of welcome.

It's like an oncologist giving chemotherapy to a healthy person because
He does not want them to feel left out!

I'm sorry to say...It's mind boggling spiritual malpractice.

The other theme that keeps manifesting itself is his practice to ignore the damage he is doing.   I think about this in terms of his role as our supreme parent.

How do you watch negative effects of your parenting, ignore them does and pleas of your children, insult them and continue to do and say the same things over and over again?

Who does that?

If you stop a child doing something self destructive and he complains, this we of course ignore.

When WE suggest our children do something destructive and they come to us with wounds and we ignore and insult them, these are sinister actions of a sick individual.

Again, I am sorry to say it, but these are valid observations and sound conclusions.

Silence from the pope for even a few days would be a gift!

"Communion is not a prize for the perfect."

Beautiful and Christ-like.

Anonymous,

Christ does not contradict Himself. Christ defined Communion to be reserved to souls in a state of Grace. So the man in Rome is contradicting Christ. We all know the source of contradicting Christ.

You better ask yourself how my post went right over your head!

Maybe Fr Heilman can get through your thick skull:

An expression being thrown around, lately, is that “the Eucharist is not a prize for the perfect.” Well, of course it isn’t, but the context of the use of this expression is usually to justify receiving Holy Communion while not being in a state of grace.

A better way of stating this would be, “the Eucharist is spiritual nutrition for the pure.” It’s true, nobody will ever be perfect in this lifetime, but once the priest prays the words of absolution over a contrite soul, they become “perfectly pure.” Now that soul yearns for the things of God. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament becomes a time to “marinate in God’s graces” ... not a rejection, but a “longing” is set in the soul made pure again.

So, here’s the point … all the problems of the world can be solved if we, once again, become “strong in God’s supernatural grace.” We are called to make the world a better place, but “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).

The world is “spiritually sick” right now, filled with impurities which are causing them to reject God and crave the junk food of worldliness. It’s no wonder our churches are emptying out. The Church simply *must* help people to believe in the supernatural power of God again. Stop the secularization of our faith!! Build churches that point to heaven, not the world. Offer Mass as though we actually believe that is God in the Holy Eucharist.

Anonymous,

What is beautiful and Christlike is the Bible.

1 Corithinians 11:27

"Therefore whosoever shall eat this bread, or drink the chalice of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and of the blood of the Lord."

This Pope I am sorry to say is a COMPLETE DISASTER for the Church of Christ! As I've said before, we absolutely have had bad Popes in the past, but a Pope that almost on purpose is actually trying to destroy the Church in order to 'create a brand new one' is something that I don't believe we have ever experienced. This is more than just experiencing a 'bad Pope', this is experiencing a 'DESTROYER', and I don't think I'm overstating the problem. I wouldn't have said this even 6 months ago, but.......it NEEDS to be said NOW! May Jesus and Our Blessed Mother come to our aid! And......may the Cardinals do everything in their power to STOP HIM!! This Pope must be stopped. What are the 'Dubia Cardinals' doing? What are they waiting for? Do we not have enough of them to formally 'correct' this Pope? What is the problem here? Lord have MERCY on Your Church!! Lord, help your faithful Priests and Bishops to 'rise to the occasion' and do their part to rid your Church of DISSIDENTS, and help your faithful laity to do the same.....with Charity and BOLDNESS! AMEN!

Excellent Carol. I believe the Pope acts like this because he no longer believes the Catholic faith as we do. Pope Francis is maily on a political mission to make the Catholic Church acceptable to the New World Order.

And yes, Michael Dowd, I believe you are spot on about the 'New World Order' thingy.

Ironically in the book "Works of the Seraphic Father" by R. Washbourne (1882) the author attributes the following prophecy to St Francis.

"Act bravely, my Brethren; take courage, and trust in the Lord. The time is fast approaching in which there will be great trials and afflictions; perplexities and dissensions, both spiritual and temporal, will abound; the charity of many will grow cold, and the malice of the wicked will increase. The devils will have unusual power, the immaculate purity of our Order, and of others, will be so much obscured that there will be very few Christians who will obey the true Sovereign Pontiff and the Roman Catholic Church with loyal hearts and perfect charity. At the time of this tribulation a man, not canonically elected, will be raised to the Pontificate, who, by his cunning, will endeavour to draw many into error and death. Then scandals will be multiplied, our Order will be divided, and many others will be entirely destroyed, because they will consent to error instead of opposing it. There will be such diversity of opinions and schisms among the people, the religious and the clergy, that, except those days were shortened, according to the words of the Gospel, even the elect would be led into error, were they not specially guided, amid such great confusion, by the immense mercy of God… Those who preserve their fervour and adhere to virtue with love and zeal for the truth, will suffer injuries and persecutions as rebels and schismatics; for their persecutors, urged on by the evil spirits, will say they are rendering a real service to God by destroying such pestilent men from the face of the earth… Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor, but a destroyer."

He wouldn't talking about our dear Pope, would he?
